JAFO,

If it was all about nurture, should not all the boys raised as girls be homosexual (instead of only a very disproportionately high percentage) and should not all the boys raised as boys be heterosexual without any homosexuality (instead of being extremely rare)?

In an ideal world, yes -- but human beings and human relationships rarely match the idesl, with the consequence that statistical correlations in human behavior are seldom 100%.

There must be something else also affecting the situation.

Apparently, in the Polynesian cultures, some of the boys raised as girls do come to the realization, in adulthood, that they really are men and consciously choose to change and live as males even though they were trained from infancy to live as females. Going the other way, OTOH, I can't prove that the percentage of men raised as boys who become homosexual really is zero but the studies seem not to detect it.

By way of completeness, I should mention that Polynesian families did not seem to have a problem of too few males. The cultural studies make no mention whatsoever of girls being raised as boys.

Norm.
