Jim-
I have a different view here. Please make sure, before jumping to seperating everything, that there is not something going on with your DW. If she is not prone to doing this, please make sure to talk about anything that could be bothering her first. When I go through a little depression or am not feeling to great about myself I rebel with spending (a problem I am working on) And I tend to get mad about not being able to buy what I want when I want. Women have a zillion emotions and deal with them all differently....I just hate for you to seperate everything and become really drastic and it may be that she is hurting, or not feeling great about your money situation and budget, etc.
Give the woman some time and a chance to cool off and discuss what happened. My DH has blown our budget time and again and wants nothing to do with the budget, but we are working on it and I am trying to get to the center of WHY he does this. We are together for better or WORSE and the problem is OURS. You have 27 years together, I think she deserves the time and another chance!
