I bought into JAS.A back in May and have been very happy with its performance. I believe it has the fundamentals of knowing its territory down well. My wife is a long-team seamstrice and a regular customer, so I have been there many a time and impressed with their operation. You might call the sewing store a gender equivalent to say RadioShack for male electronics hobbists. The people who "man" the stores are recruited from other seamstrices and therefore speak the language of their customers. They offer a good variety of fabrics in colors and patterns. They provide training classes for learning to sew and advanced techniques, such as quilting (which my wife took). And according to my home expert, they are almost alone in the field since many fabric stores have closed, certainly those of a chain store basis. Given their resilience in the recent stock market slide, I think that it will provide a good potential as conditions bottom out.
