"I will be rolling over $11,000 from a State retirement fund to an IRA. I have been told to convert to a ROTH as soon as possible based on my current tax rate.

Here is what I am thinking, I like Schwab over others such as E-Trade etc. (for this investment)and instead of putting it all into an index fund, "

Just a note about Schwab... This may not be true of their IRA accts but their taxable accounts have a $15 per quarter fee for accounts less than $20,000 that do not make at least 4 trades a year.

I have E*Trade and TD Waterhouse. I like Waterhouse better.
