just a couple of young guys driving a fererri, having fun

Yeah, young guys are always driving a ferarri having fun. I know the street where this happened, and I don't buy that it was just a youthful accident. Did Heatley intend to crash the car, certainly not. But he did intend to drive at more than twice the speed limit. It was certainly no accident that his car lost traction as it rounded the curve. It was completely predictable that the this accident would have happened given the actions taken by the drier.

So I do not see this prosecution as "someone has to pay". Heatley's disregard for his own safety and that of Dan Snyder was a deliberate act, even if the consequence was not anticipated. What bothers me was the timing of the indictment, coming less than a week before the DA stood for election in a primary. Everyone knows there will be a plea agreement at some point, one that could easily have been negotiated months ago instead of during a re-election campaign.

Who defers to the Snyder family who does not want to see Heatley jailed...
