Just a note - some 401k loans can't have "extra" paid on them. you either make your regular payments or pay the entire balance, but they won't accept extra or over payments. My 401k has those rules anyway - stick with it for its life or pay it in full at any point. Only other options are to leave the company or prove financial hardship and it can be treated (penalized/taxed) as a withdrawal.
