Just going by gut feel when a sharp up-spike isn't likely to last, backed
up by cold analysis that the growth required to justify current valuation
is just too big to be plausible.

My broker's response:

"There is insufficient TSLA available for short sale."

Maybe explains some of the volatility, as some clients are being forced out of their positions. Just one of the nasty aspects of short selling.
