i'm a recent college grad preparing my own taxes for the first time. during 1999 i worked in three different states: new york, rhode island and california. i worked in new york and rhode island during breaks from school, and was taxed in the usual fashion. however, my only source of income in california was through the federal work study program. as such, i did not pay any local/state taxes.i am unsure how many states i have to file in. i'm assuming that i need to file in both new york and rhode island. do i need to file in california as well?all help will be greatly appreciated*debra
