just wanted to give a quick update on my alternator problem.

i'm having my mechanic replace both battery cables and the alternator belt (it's too old to tighten any more). according to my hansen's manual, these are the first parts that should be replaced (and the cheapest as well).

if that fails, i'll probably have to replace the alternator, but my mechanic will let me buy the part myself (cirumventing that 100% markup on prices).

i'll keep you all posted.
