Just wondering how you're doing on this, Tom? I suspect that even though nail-biting is only a habit and not an addiction, it could be just as difficult to kick in the beginning, - if only because you have to have access to your hands all the time. Cigarettes can be hidden away or tossed so that the choice is no longer instantly available. Hands - well, there they are, on the keyboard or in your face. IF you back-track by mistake, (I have been pondering 'habit' overtime lately!) I had an idea: maybe you could save ONE finger for nibbling on, and leave the rest alone. Perhaps the LEFT thumb, to avoid the transfer of bacteria if you've been doing a bunch of handshaking.
Germs were mentioned here before, but that is a biggie!
