Karen (also a Mets fan...)

Thanks Karen! Hey, I've got a ticket package for a few games this summer if you'd like to go ;)

I'm 34 years old and am *still* using my cheap college furniture. Granted, I get away with this because I'm still single and really couldn't care less about having nice pieces of furniture. :)

That's a good way to say it - the college student lifestyle really does work. I don't think I've bought a single piece of furniture. Most of it came from the surplus at my parents' house (they are the biggest packrats on the planet), some from a roommate I had for a while, and a couple items literally off the curb including quite a nice wooden desk chair that just had one bolt broken on a wheel.

And the other bit of college student lifestyle I follow is no car. I can get pretty much anywhere around NYC and metro northern NJ by bike and train. And NJ still has the highest car insurance rates of any state. So I say nay to playing that game, and the $15000 that I haven't spent on car insurance certainly agrees.

I keep a similar spreadsheet together for myself, but update it on a monthly basis. It has many of the same categories with the addition of my mortgage pay off countdown.

Yeah, I track everything in MS Money, so the reports update automatically. I check them a couple times a month when the mood strikes. I'm not sure of the value of future projections; few people can predict more than a couple years in advance what their salary or expenses or investment returns will do. I expect to be FIREd well before age 50, and not really concerned with +/- a few years.
