Dear Motley Fool:
I feel that the decision to charge for access to the Discussion Boards is misguided and damaging to your public. Please reconsider this decision. As you are so proud of noting, communities have developed around your discussion boards. The individuals in these communities offer support and assistance to each other in our efforts to achieve financial stability and well-being.
To charge for this service will significantly decrease the wide availability of this support and assistance. You are in effect denying your users ready access to critical information that can give them guidance and more importantly...HOPE.
As you mentioned in the summary of new changes, "For now, we'll be removing ads, though they may come back in the future." This implies that your you are swapping an existing revenue source for a new revenue source...your users... See: http://www.fool.com/landing/pb/pb_land_a.htm?source=istfoclnk100101
Many of your readers come to the Motley Fool in deep financial straits...and use the advice they receive from the Living Below Your Means or Credit Card discussion boards to pull themselves out of the depths of debt...these are people who desperately need access but couldn't possibly afford your annual fee.
Again...I ask that you reconsider your decision...keep the ads...drop the "new features"...and keep our discussion boards....FEE FREE!!!
Thank you for your time and thank you for all you have taught us in the past...
I will not be subscribing and will sorely miss the Motley Fool Community...
