Keep your car as long as you can... Just keep care of it.

Both of my cars are paid for, about 2 years+ now. One car has over 150K miles (98 Accord) and the other is just about to break the 130K mark (98 civic). I commute 40 miles to work one way... i know, i know... just say southern california market, but wife can stay home with son... another thread all in itself. I have had the basic repairs (tires, brakes, oil, lights, etc) but nothing big as of yet. I have a little car repair e-fund set up so that should be covered.

We have one boy now, 1 year old, and we are thinking about a second kid in the next year. I have thought about getting another car, a minivan, but I DON"T miss the monthly car payment.

We are probably going to save up and buy a used minivan with cash, and sell one of our current cars.

Sleepy dad,

Bmkfool
