kevin3308: "The LEAP System I am referring to is not long term stock options. LEAP(Lifetime Economic Acceleration Process) appears to be a relatively new financial planning strategy which looks closely at opportunity costs. It seeks to minimize the "lost" opportunity costs in investments, insurance, etc. For instance, it argues that term insurance in many instances would not be the most cost effective due to the lost opp. costs projected into the future.

The LEAP System is administered by authorized agents, almost like a franchise.

Just wondering if anyone had run across this new approach."

LEAP is a sales system to help insurance agents sell expensive permanent insurance. From my limited exposure to the system, there is alot of sleight of hand that is hidden in the unspoken assumptions used for calculation purposes (and a general failure to fully disclose tax related issues).

IMO, there are several helpful insurance types on the insurance board - and you might ask them for more details. There is currently a moderate flame war on that board between an ardent proponent (and relatively new poster on that board) of "Buy Term and Invest the Difference" as a once size fits all solution for all people and several of the longtime posters on that board (who beleive that different people have different needs and wants and that individual situations need to analyzed before making a recommendation. I am not in the insurance industry but I have been around that board for awhile and kibitz irregularly from the sidelines.
