"KLA-Tencor profits on upbeat sales

KLA-Tencor, the biggest maker of semiconductor-inspection tools, said fiscal third-quarter profit rose 25 percent as customers bought more tools.

Net income rose to $91.4 million, or 48 cents a share, for the quarter ended March 31, from $73.3 million, or 38 cents, a year ago. Profit was expected to be 44 cents, the average estimate of analysts polled by First Call. Sales rose 28 percent to $528.8 million from $413 million, Chief Executive Ken Schroeder said. "
