Ok, I have picked up my first pair of knitting needles in, oh, 17 years...and I still cannot cast on stitches for the life of me. I seriously used to have my mother do it for me, I could not figure it out.

Now I sit in the middle of multiple piles of clearance fun yarns, attempting to make some cheap Christmas gifts of scarves, and I am struggling with the basic casting on of stitches. Can someone point me to a really good, detailed website showing how to do this? I've tried the Lion Brand yarn site and it's not so helpful...maybe a video of someone doing this in close-up?? Thanks!!!

StB.

Try this sight, it has lots of videos for basics like casting on and also other esoteric things like ssk.

Good luck.

I came over here late (I was hanging at Yarn Addicts Board) and saw this. I agree with Axia. Kniting help is one of my favorite sites when I have a mind block. I also like this site:

HGTV also has some useful information and although it pains me to admit it the idiots guide to knitting and crochet, at libraries, helped me when I couldn't make sense of the videos.

Fluff
