While out for a dawn run today,I ran past an old lady walking her jack russel terrier.I had barely said a neighborly 'hello' when her dog blitzes out into the street on the end of its extendo leash,...tightly whips around my legs like a bolo,& down I go.

The owner was very apologetic & I didn't get nipped,so no harm,no foul.

This weekend, the local running store had a Hoka One One shoe line introduction, allowing you to take a pair out for a run.The only pair in my size was being worn by a Hoka rep.He took his off & let me borrow them.

This is the company started by two former Salomen shoe employees. The shoes are the diametric opposite of minimalist footwear. They had very wide bases,& cushioning to a level you wouldn't believe.

Since I ran my last two marathons mid 2012,my mid 60-ish hip & knee joints have been giving me too much pain to exceed an 8 mile long run.

Well, the Hoka Stensin Tarmac shoe was like wearing foot pillows.I ordered a pair. They're not cheap, but the rep says you should be able to get a good deal more miles per pair then other lines of shoes.
