Last month, Fusion was essentially tied with Honda Accord and Nissan Altima. When the new capacity comes on line.....who knows? I see that Fusion sales have doubled in the West and up 70% in the Southeast (per ford.com). That suggests further growth is possible. Lots of money being made by Fusion. :)

I'm surprised by that west coast data. Fusion's been the laggard in mid-size registrations in cali. Camry, accord and Altima are 1-2-3 for 2012; sonata and optima rounded it out. It really wasn't even a close race behind the #1 and 2 horses, with camry selling over 50K units and accord just missing the 50K mark. Camry outsold the optima (#5; 18K units) by almost a 3 to 1 margin.

Fusion actually fell out of the top 5. The last time it appeared in the top 5 was Q4 of 2011. It shows a few things IMO. Ford has not really won over cali mid-size consumers. Second, they must be doing great outside of cali if overall western sales are strong. Third, there's more upside growth potential if they can convince Californians to take a serious look at their vehicles.

I suppose that it could have been a crazy good Q1, because Q1 registration data isn't out yet; these are Q4 2012 numbers. We'll see when the Q1 report comes out.
