Ferrari's, Lear jets, and mansions on the hill. That used to be my dream. As I got older, it became Porsches, Cessna's, and a big fancy house. Now, it's just BMW's and a nice place to live. Before long, I'll be happy with a Volkswagen and a walk on the beach. Thank God my desires are going down because my financial status is just not enough to keep up with those earlier dreams.

The secret to happiness is low expectations.

The secret to happiness is low expectations.

Or maybe just reasonable expectations.

I'd like to think that it rests on fulfilling MY expectations rather than a pre-fab image of what others think I should expect in living "the good life".

In 1969 I wanted a VW Westfalia camper van and a beach in Mexico. Now, 32 years later, a VW and the beach still sound pretty good.

I don't recall where the quote comes from but here it is:

"I make myself rich by making my wants few"
