Years ago I had some money to invest. I talked to the broker about the best investments to make that would be fairly low risk and invested most of my money in utilities that paid good dividends. But, I wanted a stock that was riskier as well. I wanted to buy Minnetonka Company - it had just recently come out with a new product - Soft Soap, that I really liked and thought would grow well. The broker talked me out of Minnetonka Co - which later sold out to P&G at a price at least 15 times what I would have bought it at. I bought the oil well company in Texas that the broker recommended and ended up getting a check a couple years later for $.01 a share. Lesson - don't let the broker talk you out of something you believe in. Research the company yourself. I do that now - buy companies I believe in after doing research and it is serving me well.
