To put this in perspective for those who might be reading this in a place that gets real winter, in our part of Texas it rarely gets all the way down to freezing during the winter. We usually drop into the 30s overnight and 40s-50s during the day during our "winter" months of late January and February. Keeping that in mind:

This morning when we got up, the local station announced that it was a "balmy" 25 degrees outside. I had to take DGD#2 off to daycare this morning and when we got to the driveway, there was frost all over my windshield. In a moment of inspiration, as I was starting to scrape the windshield while waiting for the explorer to warm up, I remembered that DH always runs the hose out and sprays the frost off the windshield. I was so happy to remember this detail. So I got the hose and sprayed the windshields of both vehicles. That's when I learned the awful truth:

Water from the hose will only melt the frost off the windshield when it's in the 30s outside. When it's 25, the water just freezes instantly into a nice ice sheet...
