Let me be clear about why I cannot change my mind and see things your way. You make great points and probably some of the most well thought out arguements on your side of this topic that I have seen. My concern is not one over the details of credit card operations, but rather a philisophical one. I'm frustrated by how much of a victim society we seem to have become, I'm frustrated by how reliant we are on protectionist measures in lue of good decision making, and I can't help but argue firmly against steps that I believe will further those problems.

I am disappointed by how many people think the ideas stated in the original post are good ones that congress should be scrambling to implement. They are HORRIBLE from a free market perspective, and from a personal responsibility perspective, and from almsot every other perspective I can think of.
