Let me explain this in a little different way -- If I leave the doors to my house standing open, and someone comes in, do I really have a reason to complain?

Well, yes. I leave my doors open on occasion, because the local culture (rural south) says that this is a reasonable thing to do. Because people know better than to just walk into your house without your consent. That's criminal trespass. It's rude. And it would not end well.

Maybe I'm not understanding. If I were walking along and saw a house with the doors open, even if it looked like an interesting house, I'd never dream of walking in without asking first. Who does that?
