My brother recently passed away. He had named me as beneficiary to a life insurance policy. I live in CA. Do I need to invest this money or find a shelter for it prior to December 31st, or is there some law that limits its taxation. Will I be paying tax on it as though it were a regular income source? Any help here to lower my b.p. would be greatly appreciated!
