How is Ford that different from GM? Meaning, why is Ford more likely to survive if bankruptcy looms for GM. Both companies have similar numbers of employees, unions, etc...

I would think GM and Ford are like Delta/United, not say Delta compared to Southwest or JetBlue, meaning I would think their similarities (workers, beneftis, retirement plans, etc) are closer than their differences.

Could anyone help explain why Ford is a stonger company/less likely to go into bankrupcty then GM?
