In your original post you indicated that you live outside a major metro area. Probably the lines from your house to the CO (Central Office) and from the CO to the trunk are older and were designed to carry voice traffic rather than data traffic.

That could explain why your throughput is slower than when you were using a competitor that might have more efficient technology.

To be honest, as a shareholder, I would rather BLS invest money in DSL enabling technology rather than upgrading the entire network to allow people to connect at greater speeds on the voice network.

You claim that if a company offers a service - it needs to be the best service. Not really. The company needs to decide where to invest their money to maximize return for the shareholders. Unfortunately this is your situation. Do you curse the cell phone providers when you travel through deserted sections of the country because they didn't install towers every 1 mile to give your perfect coverage?
