London 4Still here. Enjoyed trips to Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, and Windsor, the Europe through the Ages at the V&A, the fossil collection of Mary Anning at the Natural History Museum, the Roman and Etruscan exhibit at the British Museum. An amazing woman, Mary Anning, I was gobsmacked by the quality of her research and specimen preparation techniques, arrete, catherine....this is our kind of people!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_AnningIt is a Godsend that the British plundered the Empire of its treasures. One of the benefits of oppressive colonial hegemony is the preservation and cataloging of civilization's treasures. It has been vogue the last 30 years to disparage rich old white men. These magnificent men, and women bequeathed an invaluable and irreplaceable collection of the best the human spirit can generate. The benefits vastly overwhelm the destructive progressive left's multicultural civilization sensitivity. I am pleased with the current British struggle with the demographic tidal flow from the ex colonies. There is a dignified patience of the populace with the cultural stress place by the myriad cultures, religions, political ideologies, and selfish demands of the new. The transformation is in progress, but the greatest threat is economic in nature. The Brits, cannot afford their socialist safety net where 60% do not contribute to the system. They, unlike our Democratic Socialist Party, are at least talking about the problem and seeking fiscal solutions. David Cameron, for all his faults, is talking about the unsustainablity socialist economic theory. The Brits see the cliff, and are at least talking about how to avoid the Thelma and Louise flight.I mentioned the "patience" of the populace. Have to qualify that a bit. On this trip I have not been out of the rarefied atmosphere of Knightsbridge and Belgravia. This is the Embassy neighborhood of Ferrari, Maybach, Bently, Lamborghini, and Aston-Martin. I suspect that the patience is nonexistent or at least strained in the working neighborhoods. The 40% are lifting their heads out of the trenches and are opening their eyes. The frogs are getting warm in their pot.mcb
