An area I've never explored, but would like to have something in place for my spouse at very least.Cursory search says that I pay $100/month.....and if such care is needed, policy pays $150/day, for 5 years. Anyone familiar with long term care insurance?*The disclaimer says insurer can change the premium anytime. The cynic in me wonders....if we pay into this policy for 20 years, what's to stop them from tripling the premium? We'd have no choice but to pay, OR cancel...meaning the premiums we paid all those years is wasted.*Is it for real? Do they really give you $150 per day, and you decide how to spend it on a home-nurse or whatever? OR are you relegated to a nursing home the INSURER is in cahoots with, whether you like it or not? Thanks, JediG (growing up really, really sucks.)
