Long term you would think that free operating system upgrades and free Office type software would put pressure on people choosing a Mac vs a Windows PC. Not to mention the vast difference in resale value.

In fact I wonder how many people today who choose a PC over a Mac do so without one of the following situations

they have to because the boss says so
they don't have the funds for a Mac
they are afraid to have to learn a new OS
some critical but rare software works only on Windows
they are afraid of anything new
they don't know that you can have Windows on a Mac
they are getting hand me down PC as the giver switches over to Mac

I think it is true that many switch by choice from Windows to Mac, but few go the other way by choice.

More likely they will both be rare in 10 or 15 years, tablets taking over for most.
