< Don't use UG5, either. Not yet, at least. UG5 is so volatile that seasoned investors get white knuckles; there is no way a neophyte will be able to stomach it. The first time you do your monthly update and see a 35% loss, you'll bail out...>

The way I keep my Maalox bills down and avoid white knuckles is to keep 15% of my money in a cash-king portfolio, 10% in very stable stuff (Series EE savings bonds, Swiss Francs, Gold Bullion Grade Coins, etc), 30% in my Emotional portfolio (mostly BRK), 30% in the UV4, and about 15% in the UG5, With all that other more conservative stuff, I do not sweat the UG5, but were I to put in 50% there, my Maalox and psychotherapy bills would eat up the profits.
