Those I-Bonds yield 3% over inflation, tax-deferred, with guaranteed return of principal. This compares favorably, with the alternate inflation-protected investment, TIPS.

I am keeping mine. I cashed all the I-Bonds, from later years. Their lower rates, compared with TIPS, didn't win out.
