Yup. Ford dropped their rebates toward vehicle purchases or leases. In a letter to cardholders, Ford and Citibank also said they will stop awarding rebates on card purchases of Texaco gas and Hertz rental cars. The programs end January 1.

GM already cut in half the rebates toward GM vehicles. Looks like Ford is just following suit. The letter states that Ford cardholders can use their Citibank cards after January 1 (but I'm not sure why anybody would want to).

Just my personal opinion, but with airlines in the black, and no significant downturn yet this summer, don't be surprised to see the airlines back down on some of their card award programs this fall. But then again, the flight schedules are already sooooo restrictive for the free tickets, perhaps they don't care.

Happy new card hunting.
