Is there anything Foolish about owning an American Express card vs a traditional VISA?>>

Well, there are 2 things that are very attractive about having an Amex card:

There are offices (almost) everywhere in the world and they let you use the office as a sort of General Delivery address (eg. I exchanged postcards with a couple of friends on their 3 year around the world trip because they sent me an approx. window of where they would be and I would reply to that Amex office <unfortunately, this broke down at the last minute and I missed them in Fiji by 1 week - they never got my card so I was forced to spend 3 weeks in Fiji and Australia without them {life can be so hard}>).
The card is also good if you do a lot of business traveling and only use the card for business; you can turn the monthly bill over to the bean-counters right from the envelope.
