Social Security and Medic(are/aid) is more than double that number at about 45%.

Social Security and Medicare should not be in the budget! They are paid in advance by the recipients!

The only reason the thieves in Washington want to cut medicare and social security benefits is so they do not have to pay back the money they have 'borrowed' from those funds!

Balance the budget with tax revenues and the money would be there to pay the debt to those who are now and will in the future depend on social security and medicare. Social Security is solvent for 30 years. Medicare will need to be tweaked if the Affordable Health Care Act is not able to bend the cost curve down.

You should no case lump social security and medicare into a general budget negotiation!!!!
