<<For most people, converting an ordinary IRA to a Roth is not a good idea. At best, it's a wash. See www.fairmark.com , KATZ's excellent web site.>>Thanks for the compliment on my web site, but if I left the impression that converting to a Roth IRA is at best a wash, then my site isn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. For many people, conversion to a Roth IRA is a boon that will ultimately add many thousands of dollars -- even hundreds of thousands -- to their wealth. I've tried to point out (as Pixy has on a number of occasions) that under certain conditions a Roth IRA produces exactly the same after-tax results as a regular IRA. Maybe I need to put a warning at those places to read the rest of the material, because it's clear that many people will reap significant rewards if they take full advantage of the Roth IRA.KAT in Chicagolandhttp://www.fairmark.comTax Guide for InvestorsIncludes the latest information onRoth IRA technical corrections
