I too am *really* impressed with and hopeful about Ashoka. I feel bad that somehow we're not conveying well enough what an exciting organization it is.

What you said was right. Ashoka finds local people with local solutions to local problems -- and helps them get cracking quickly.

Better still, it aims to help the social entrepreneur (the one implementing the typically low-cost high-impact solution) get his/her idea implemented nation-wide and in many cases, exported to other nations. So with relatively few dollars, Ashoka can launch a massive movement that transforms many many lives all over the place. It's all about leverage. :)
