<<Is there a Discussion of the IRS Senate hearings somewhere?>>

Not that I know of, Bill. You might want to do a web search and see what you can find.

As you know, we try to keep the folder cenered on the discussion of "what is" as opposed to "what should be", which is why we don't use this folder as a soapbox to air opinions about the tax system. It would certainly be interesting, but not too practical.

That being said, I watched some of the hearings and tried to catch the news reports on other stuff that I missed. But please remember, dear Bill, that these types of hearings have been going on for years. And after the hearings, various members of Congress beat their breasts and scream that change is on the way (...the buzz term this time was "rip the IRS out by the roots", I believe).

And then, Congress goes into recess and nothing much happens. Many point to the taxpayers "Bill of Rights" I and II as positive outcomes (which they were, but to a very limited extent IMHO), but very little real change seems to occur after the smoke clears.

Anyway, so much for that. If you find an area with some good, thoughtful discussion on the hearings, please let the rest of us here in the folder know about it.
