I don't doubt that for a minute intercst. But both flat rate and discriminatory income taxes have been repeatedly rejected by Washington State voters, most recently just a couple of years ago when a voter proposed initiative was rejected by a wide margin.

Voters in Washington State continue to elect lopsided numbers of Democrats to office but to sharply limit their ability to raise taxes for spending.

In November voters again passed an initiative by a wide margin that would require a 2/3rds vote in the legislature to raise taxes.

The response to these facts by the Democratic controlled legislature seems to be to continue to defund education, higher education in particular, in order to keep teacher and public employees salaries and pensions at their accustomed levels.

Seen with these priorities, paying higher wages to homosexuals than heterosexuals for the same work is part of that general policy scheme chosen by Democrats.
