<<The thing is, given where I live, right now the Northwest miles make sense for me more than the other airlines do, and World Perks Visa is the only one I know of (and they claim to be the only one) to give miles on Northwest. I'm kind of new to the miles thing, but I assume that I can't use American Airlines miles on Northwest, right? There's no way to transfer them. So if I want Northwest miles, then this is the way to go. Right? Or is there more to this than I know?>>

Just check with the bank issuing the card. They have departments with all the details, and would be able to tell you what airlines you can use. Also, someone mentioned that Chase has a card which allows you to use any airline. That may be worth investigating.

Good Luck,
