If you are married you both must be of one mind and act together. A piece of paper doesn't make you a married couple.

If you are divided on things I'd personally suggest you work on that first. Your marriage and happiness depends on it.

When you are together as a couple the issues with money and management are much much smaller (almost non-existent).

In our house both must agree to spend or not.

One thing that helps to not go spend crazy is that we both get a weekly allowance. The rule for allowance is that we can spend it on literally anything we choose with no approvals necessary.

We used Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University course to setup our budget. The video's on budgeting really helped.

A good friend of mine and his wife manage money the way you guys do. He's 10 years from retirement and is just now realizing he'll never be able to retire because they didn't work TOGETHER to take care of the present and prepare for the future.
