It is. Every year DH goes scouring through the returns asking, "What about this? And this?" and I say, "We don't qualify." He doesn't believe me, runs the numbers himself, and voila, I was right.

...If that's the case it may be to the family's overall advantage for her to take the credits (even though she still can't take the personal exemption). If that's the case no one would take her dependency exemption...

But this year it appears I missed one! Thanks, I'll have another chat with DD. I guess she can file an amended return.
