Years ago, back when I was really foolish, a brokerage house passed along many "hot tips" on IPO's. I bought shares of this company and have the stock certificate. Recently, I tried to find the company but find the changed names to "Palace Casinos, Inc." and then when chapter 11. Some time later, Xcel (XCLL) bought the assets.

My question to the board - do my shares have any value? What happens to shares when a company goes chapter 11 and the assets are purchased by another firm? Do the original shareholders receive anything?

Any help much appreciated.
