mark33: But you don't have to get off the ship at the ports (in fact staying on the ship when in port is very pleasurable due to the complete lack of crowds), and even if you choose to get off at the ports, you don't have to stay in the shopping area. When we stopped at Cozumel a few years ago, we jumped in a cab and went south about 10 miles to a gorgeous beach with tropical fish right on the shoreline (like in 1 ft of water), my 3 year old stood there with the fish swimming around her legs. And when we stopped in San Juan, PR, we walked around town for a bit and saw the town (saw a rum factory, but didn't enter because we had kids with us, and prefer scotch).

We have never been on a cruise. Well, a Napa River cruise, but that doesn't count. We bat the idea around, but so far we didn't do it.

We wouldn't like to be the "steerage" class. The larger cabins with windows cost much more, no? What do you recomment in regards to cabins?

We like to fly first class, but we don't like to pay for first class. We have access to a lot of FF miles, so we can sometimes go First Class on our miles.

We usually stay in Time Shares, either by exchange, or by using our other choices. Much prefer these to hotel rooms. Expensive to buy, and the maintenance fees are a nuisance, but they are already paid for, and we like having an apartment with kitchen (saves on food costs.)
