Maybe a used Honda Fit next time,

Very little difference between the gas mileage ratings of the Fit and the Civic.


Yes, but the Fit seems to have better carrying/hauling room than the Civic. I could be wrong; the closest I've ever been to a Fit was when one stopped so I could walk across the crosswalk.

But it looked pretty good. Like I said, we've got a number of years before we are actually in the market to replace the Outback (which, btw, gets about 28 mpg on the highway--not bad for a hulking hunk of metal and definitely better than ChiliSpouse's Mini).
