Since Tom Barrett took over as Mayor of Milwaukee, city spending has increased by more than $320 million – more than 27%. Instead of making government live within its means, Mayor Barrett paid for all his spending by raising taxes, even in these challenging economic times. In his very first budget, Barrett broke his pledge to keep a lid on property taxes and has continued increasing taxes and fees ever since. In fact, property taxes are up more than 20% and fees have doubled.

Given Mayor Barrett's reckless fiscal policies, it's no surprise that Milwaukee has among the worst job creation records of any big city in the United States. Unemployment is up 28% on Barrett's watch, and Milwaukee's jobless rate is significantly worse than the state average.

If only he gets the chance to apply his skills at job destruction and tax hiking at the state level, he will become a shining new star in the Democratic firmament. He'll have the resumé to carry on in 2016 where Obama left off.

What surprises me is that he hasn't been recruited by California's Democratic Party to help them finish off the state.
