Thestreet.com is speculating that merger may be back in the minds of those leading AHP. Owing to its poor agro-business prospects, speculation revolves around a possible merger with either Warner Lambert or Novartis. AHP denies they are considering merger at this time but the article points up that even with a promising pipeline at AHP the predictions that the company needs some more heft to increase its earning cannot be denied. As a shareholder I would love to see AHP merge because I believe it would strengthen its bottom line, but somehow management seems to be either too conservative or too egotistical to want to join forces with another equal. We've been dancing around this merger business for 18 months now. If they don't combine with someone else I think the prospects for the stock are mediocre at best, inspite of all the houses that have AHP as a Buy.
