The local paper, Raleigh News & Observer, recently revamped their Sunday business section. This is the same newspaper that was fooled by the Motley Fool April Fools joke.

They are going to have a series of articles where they have a financial planner evaluate a family's finances. Their first couple have been married 4 years and has amassed savings greater than 100K. The financial planner was stumped at first and had trouble coming up with suggestion. He did suggest they reduce their stocks and invest more in mutual funds and bonds. Sound familiar. The stock to other investments were at a 9:1 ratio.

As you can see in this example, Fools can really confuse financial planners. And even if you are doing great, they will recommended commission generating products.

Lets hope this couple and all others stay on the Foolish path to retirement.
