Methinks all of the above would come into play with a gradual settling in of prices i.e. one cigarette = one .22.LR cartridge or can of beer.

You have to be a guy to ignore food, although I'm sure you like to eat<g>. As I recall from history books, spices made a killing in the Marco Polo's day. They kind of disguise almost spoiling meat and such.

We had a decent garden last year, so I dried tomatoes, chili peppers and herbs like spearmint, basil, winter savory, Italian parsley, rosemary and sage. I wouldn't have needed the dehydrator if I would have been home in August. We had hot & dry in Missouri for most of June, July and August.

The veggies did great, thanks to drip irrigation. When I make a soup or stew, I throw in the equivalent of a tomato or two to add acid and appropriate herbs grown in my backyard. Maybe this year I'll expand into pinto and/or kidney beans. (Will that make me a bean counter?)

Anyway, congrats on paying off your abode. We're working on it w/ double payments.
