MichaelR: The problem, for you, is that most of this board’s regular posters aren’t spring chickens any more and, getting older we’ve experienced being lied to and being sold a bill of goods; political promises not kept and yet more offered; shoddy reasoning guised as insight; and yes, we have the t-shirts and frankly don’t any more of them

The thread starts off with a link to someone cyber stalking a person who gave testimony in front of Congress. My wife has given testimony to Congress about genetic testing, if you disagreed with her testimony would you then stalk her on her vacation to Disney World with my children? Would you consider this acceptable?

The thread moves on to make fun of her looks. Do you think anyone makes fun of the way a male economist looks that gave testimony in front of Congress or is this just blatant misogyny?

Interspersed in there were jokes about President Obama and people from Europe, I am not sure of their relevance to the fact that Ms. Fluke went on a vacation in Europe, but I suppose it is a chance to bash someone that you do not agree with. I have no real beef with the Obama jokes; he is a big boy and can handle it.

Get the point? We are acting our ages. Act yours.

I fully understand humorous messages. I do not mind humorous messages that make someone look foolish.

One thing I do not understand about this board is the tribe-like hatred of Universal Healthcare. The single thing that keeps many people working is a lack of healthcare. Before Obamacare, if you had a pre-existing condition you were going to have to work until you qualified for Medicare (unless you had saved $100 M) because you could not get insurance at any price. If you cannot purchase insurance as an individual you have to work at a company that offers it in a group. Otherwise if you get in a truck accident that involves, I don’t know, 19 days of hospitalization and six surgeries your nest egg is gone. Now you are an unemployed 52 year old that retired too early. Good luck getting a job that pays as much as the one you quit 2 years earlier. Naively, I would have assumed that anyone that wanted to retire early without being a leach on society would want Universal Coverage. I do not like Obamacare but my dislike is because it does not go nearly far enough.
