MM,

First congratulations on your efforts so far!

Next, I hear your frustration! I turned to DW yesterday and said "I'm really frustrated! I want our debt paid off NOW. We've been working on it for ~1.5 years and we have another 1.5 years to go. I've learned my lesson with the debt now I just want to get on with my post-debt life!"

However, we still do have things we can do to hasten our Big Happy Dance (and you might too).

Although we don't have car loans we DO have a significant amount on a HELOC charging us 10.5%. If we can get a 0% BT offer that we could get towards that it would speed things up by another 1-2 months (maybe more). Since we have 3 CCs with $0 balance I'm expecting one of these to come through eventually (one of them offered me a 1% BT offer for 12 months BUT they wanted to charge a 3% fee, I feel I can get better than this so I declined). You might look for something similar on your car loans.

Once our HELOC (and your car loans) are paid up, then everything gets thrown into an EmigrantDirect account until the various BT offers expire.

However, the BEST thing that we can do to accelerate pay-off day is to keep throwing money into the pay-off absolutely as fast as we can.

Jim
